DIY Invitations {Farmington, MI Wedding Photographer}

Are you wanting something different for your invitations but don't want to pay the price? Try creating your own. Many retail stores offer wedding invitation kits for a reasonable price. But don't stop there, use the kit as your starting point and enjoy adding your own personal taste and style. One way to do this is in the font style you choose. Whether your wedding is black tie or an elegant backyard affair, use the font to portray the mood of the day. For example, if you are wanting your style to be fun and dreamy try the font hand-drawn lettering. For a more traditional feel experiment with Novia and Baskerville together. If your wedding is vintage inspired try using the font woodcut type. Most importantly have fun with it! For more unique font ideas try these websites: fonts.com, 1001freefonts.com, fontfreak.com

Presenting Mr. & Mrs. Brodie! {Northville, MI Wedding Photography}

Let me introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. Brodie!

Who doesn't love these shoes! Every detail from the gown to programs to place cards, was unique and perfectly coordinated.
Even this one couldn't stay away from the fun!
We had a great time in downtown Northville with so many different spots to take advantage of.
Our first stop was Mill Race Village for some beautiful wedding party portraits.

Next stop, thanks to the Northville Fire Department, we captured this! I wish I could take a fire engine to every wedding they are too cool to work with.

Then we revisited the very spot where she said "yes!"

The ceremony and reception were held at Plymouth Manor, in downtown Plymouth.
The reception was so elegant with it's black and white themed decor. From the chair covers, to the place cards, to the cake not one detail was overlooked.

Thanks you two for sharing your special day with me, I really enjoyed every minute. The Lord bless and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Congratulations!!! {Franklin-Bingham Fire Department}

Congratulations Franklin-Bingham Fire Department!

Recently I was able to photograph at the Franklin-Bingham Fire Department.
The department received a $5,000.00 grant to purchase personal protective clothing and helmets.

Everyone had fun taking their turn being a "firefighter" for the day.

Thank you to all the men and women at the Franklin-Bingham Fire Department. Great work!

Happily Ever After {Witch's Hat Depot South Lyon, MI}

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Robb!!!!

What an inspiring location! I had a lot of fun this past Labor Day weekend with the new Mr. and Mrs. Robb. Here is just a taste of what took place last Saturday.

With the groom being a huge train and locomotive fan what better venue than the Witch's Hat Depot located in South Lyon. This quaint little historical village held not only a vintage train depot but also a lovely white chapel, where the ceremony took place.

As you can see the bride and groom's families also enjoyed being photographers for the day.

To add a personal touch to their reception the Robb's handed out home made salsa as party favors. How cute!

Everyone was having a ball dancing, even the ring bearer couldn't stay off the dance floor.

Special thanks to Jim and Gail. I wish you all the best in the years to come.

She Said Yes! {Metro Detroit Wedding Photographer}

Here is a little sneak peak at an awesome engagement shoot just this past week. Thanks to Jason and Rebecca for being such good models, and of course I can't leave out Captain and Cody!

I could not have asked for a more romantic setting. With the golden sun shining in, just gorgeous.

Thanks guys for letting me capture these moments. I can't wait to have more fun at the wedding!

Hollie's Tip of the Week #5 { Farmington HIlls, MI Wedding Photographer}

You have walked down the aisle to Cannon in D. Exchanged rings. Had your first kiss as husband and wife. Now the fairytale begins right? Not so fast! Now is the time for "Family Formal Portraits" aren't you so excited. The mother of the bride is yelling at family members to assemble while your dad is trying to bring grandma and grandpa back from the parking lot. Your aunt Sally is upset because she and cousin Harold don't speak anymore and now have to stand inches apart and smile, AHH! OK, do you want a way out of this mayhem? It's simple really, make a list. I'll say it again, make a list. This list should consist of immediate families of bride and groom as well as some close extended family. Keep in mind normally the church coordinator is wanting the sanctuary or chapel clear after 30 minutes from the end of the recessional. If you have a responsible relative who doesn't mind bossing the family around a little, which what family doesn't, call on them to Hold The List. This way you and your prince charming get to stand and smile without yelling for grandpa who forgot his hearing aids, or trying to remember all the names of your new family on the fly. Believe me it will be well worth it if you have someone in control of the List.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Eichar!

We had so much fun at Mill Race Village this past Saturday. We were able to dodge the dark storm clouds that loomed above and captured these touching shots. Since we photographed before the wedding, the bride and groom still wanted their first look at one another to be special. I think we got it, look at those smiles!

This image looks stunning with it's infrared flare, how romantic.

The lovely bride was absolutely radiant and was really enjoying posing for the camera.
Not to mention her groom couldn't keep his eyes off of her.

Thank you! to the bridal party for being patient with the sweltering heat. They didn't even break a sweat, well on camera at least.

From beginning to end the night was enchanting. I wish you both all the best!
